Pag Jewelry – Croatian Traditional Jewelry from Island Pag

“Peružini”, necklaces made with the filigree technique in gold or silver, and “ročini”, traditional bell-shaped earrings, are the most renowned types of jewelry from the island of Pag. Such jewelry has been worn in Pag since the 16th century. As there were no professional goldsmiths there at the time, “peružini” were usually bought in Venice. Original “peružini” earrings are a part of the traditional local costume and weigh about 123 grams. Pag needle lace is another famous traditional souvenir from Pag and is protected by UNESCO.
